About Otrivin Moisturising Adult Nasal Drops
Otrivin Moisturising Adult Nasal Drops are mainly used to treat nasal congestion (blocked nose) in cases of sinusitis, hay fever, common cold, perennial allergies, and allergic rhinitis. They are classified as “decongestants and antihistamines.” The inflammation of the sinus lining is known as sinusitis. Allergens such as dust, mould, pollen, animal flakes, or dust particles can induce allergic rhinitis, which is an inflammation and allergy of the nose.
Two medications are included in Otrivin Moisturising Adult Nasal Drops: Xylometazoline and Sorbitol. Xylometazoline is a member of the “decongestant” class. It relieves nasal congestion and blockage temporarily by constricting blood vessels, which reduces inflammation and obstruction of the nasal passages. Sorbitol is used to reduce dryness and irritation in the nose by moisturising the nasal mucosa.
Based on your health, your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage for Otrivin Moisturising Adult Nasal Drops. Medicinal Benefits
Otrivin Moisturising Adult Nasal Drops are used to treat sinusitis, hay fever, allergic rhinitis, persistent colds, and clogged noses. It is made up of Sorbitol and Xylometazoline. Xylometazoline is an antihistamine and decongestant medication. It functions by reducing oedema and reducing blood vessel constriction, which lessens inflammation and obstruction of the nasal passages. This procedure relieves nasal obstruction and congestion momentarily. As an antihistamine, xylometazoline stops allergy-causing histamines from acting, which relieves runny nose and sneezing. Sorbitol is used to reduce dryness and irritation in the nose by moisturising the nasal mucosa.

Patients Concern
An allergy or inflammation of the nose brought on by dust, mould, pollen, or skin flakes from specific animals is known as allergic rhinitis. Sneezing, a runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, and an itchy nose are some of its symptoms.
The term “sinusitis” refers to inflammation of the sinus cavities, which surround the nasal passages. It may be chronic or acute. Acute sinusitis can be brought on by the cold and other allergy triggers. Nasal polyps or an infection in the sinuses can result in chronic sinusitis. Nasal congestion, headache, runny nose, and facial pain are signs of sinusitis.
