About Dapnat 5 mg Tablet
Dapnat 5 mg Tablet is a member of the class of medications known as “anti-diabetic” medications, which are mainly used to treat and manage type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a condition that happens when there is either less insulin or available insulin is not efficiently utilized by our body cells for decreasing increased blood glucose. About 90% of all occurrences of diabetes are of this type, which is most prevalent in middle-aged individuals. Therefore, non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) or adult-onset diabetes are other names for it.
Dapnat 5 mg Tablet contains ‘Dapagliflozin’ a protein found in kidney known as sodium-glucose cotransporters-2 (SGLT-2 inhibitor) that works by inhibiting the reabsorption of glucose in the body, resulting in an increase in glucose excretion through urine. The removal of excessive glucose helps to lower down the blood sugar level.
Follow your doctor’s instructions and take Dapnat 5 mg Tablet as directed. Depending on your health, your doctor will advise you on how often to take Dapnat 5 mg Tablet. Some side effects of Dapnat 5 mg Tablet include urinary tract infections, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), increased thirst, skin rashes, dizziness, and nausea. Most of these side effects go away on their own with time, but if they persist, consult your doctor.
Before using any of these medications, please let your doctor know if you have a hypersensitivity to any of their ingredients. Dapnat 5 mg Tablet is not approved to use in children below 18 years of age. If you are a woman who is pregnant or breastfeeding or planning to be pregnant, then tell your doctor before they prescribe this drug to you. When taken with diuretics, Dapnat 5 mg Tablet may drop blood pressure, raise the risk of dehydration, and cause kidney issues. If you take any other medications, let your doctor know. Do not take or stop Dapnat 5 mg Tablet if the doctor did not advise you to do so.
Medicinal Benefits
Type 2 diabetes and non-insulin-dependent diabetes (NIDDM) can be treated with Dapnat 5 mg Tablet, an anti-diabetic medication. People who have high blood sugar levels that cannot be controlled with diet and exercise alone are the main patients administered this medication. Dapnat 5 mg Tablet comprises of “Dapagliflozin” a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor responsible for suppressing SGLT-2 enzymes in the kidney. As a result, when you urinate, your body excretes more glucose because it stops the reabsorption of glucose from the blood that has been filtered by your kidney.

Drug Warnings
If you have severe kidney disease, high blood or urine ketone levels, heart disease, congestive heart failure, liver disease, or are taking insulin or other oral diabetes drugs, let your doctor know. You should also let them know if you are allergic to Dapnat 5 mg Tablet and other medications. When combined with other diabetes drugs, Dapnat 5 mg Tablets may drastically drop blood sugar levels, resulting in hypoglycemia, a potentially dangerous disease. In this situation, your doctor might lower the dosage of Dapnat 5 mg Tablet or another diabetes medication. Even if a person feels that their blood sugar levels are under control, they should continue taking Dapnat 5 mg Tablets because they have the potential to raise them again. When taking Dapnat 5 mg tablets, you should consume small, frequent meals and avoid fasting. Look for signs of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), such as sweating, lightheadedness, dry mouth, dry skin, palpitations, chills, extreme thirst, and frequent urine. Take honey or sugar candies right away and see a doctor if you experience any of the symptoms listed.

Advice on Diet and Lifestyle
Put half of your plate full of starchy vegetables, a quarter full of proteins, and a quarter full of complete grains.
Eat at regular intervals. Avoid going too long between meals or snacks.
Regularly check your blood sugar level, particularly if there are many swings.
Every week, dedicate at least 150 minutes to moderate-intensity exercise or an hour and fifteen minutes to high-intensity exercise.
To reach a healthy body mass index (18.5 to 24.9), progressively reduce your weight.
Consume more fruits, vegetables, and other foods high in fibre in favour of refined carbs and whole-grain foods.

Avoid stress since it can cause your blood sugar to rise. To regulate blood sugar fluctuations brought on by stress, you can use stress-reduction strategies like mindfulness.
Choose dairy items that are low in fat, such as cheese, fat-free milk, and low-fat yoghurt.
Maintaining normal blood pressure (120/80) lowers the risk of cardiovascular illnesses in people with diabetes.
Special Advise
Every three months, you should get a glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) test to see how well your blood glucose is controlled.
Consume a lot of fluids because taking Dapnat 5 mg tablets can make you dehydrated.
Glossary of Conditions and Diseases
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic or lifelong illness in which the body’s cells do not react to insulin, and in more advanced stages, the body does not even create enough insulin. It accounts for about 90% of all instances of diabetes. Because of this illness, the body must rely on various energy sources for its muscles, tissues, and organs. Constant hunger, low energy, exhaustion, weight loss, extreme thirst, frequent urination, dry mouth, itchy skin, and blurred eyesight are some of the early signs of this disease, which develops gradually. Type 2 diabetes, often known as adult-onset diabetes, is most likely to affect people who are middle-aged or older.
