Product Details
Dapmed-5 Tablet is a member of the class of medications known as “anti-diabetic” medications, which are mostly used to treat and manage type 2 diabetes. When there is either insufficient insulin or when our body cells do not effectively use the insulin that is available to decrease elevated blood glucose, type 2 diabetes develops. About 90% of all occurrences of diabetes are of this type, which is most prevalent in middle-aged individuals. Therefore, non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) or adult-onset diabetes are other names for it.
‘Dapagliflozin’, a protein called sodium-glucose cotransporters-2 (SGLT-2 inhibitor) that is present in Dapmed-5 Tablet, increases the amount of glucose excreted through urine by blocking the body’s ability to reabsorb glucose. Removing too much glucose contributes to lowering blood sugar levels.
As directed, take the Dapmed-5 tablet. Depending on your health, your doctor will advise you on how frequently to take Dapmed-5 Tablets. Urinary tract infections, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), increased thirst, skin rashes, dizziness, and nausea are all possible side effects. The majority of these Dapmed-5 Tablet adverse effects go away with time and don’t need medical intervention. However, consult your physician if the adverse effects are severe.
Before using any of these medications, please let your doctor know if you have a hypersensitivity to any of their ingredients. It is prohibited for minors under the age of eighteen to use Dapmed-5 tablets. Before your doctor prescribes this medication, let them know if you are a woman who is pregnant, nursing, or intends to become pregnant. When taken with diuretics, Dapmed-5 Tablet may drop blood pressure, raise the risk of dehydration, and cause kidney issues. If you use any additional medications, let your doctor know. If your doctor has not instructed you to use or stop taking Dapmed-5 Tablet, do not do so.
Medicinal Benefits
Type 2 diabetes and non-insulin-dependent diabetes (NIDDM) can be treated with Dapmed-5 Tablet, an anti-diabetic medication. People who have high blood sugar levels that cannot be controlled with diet and exercise alone are the main patients administered this medication. The sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor “Dapagliflozin,” which is the active ingredient in Dapmed-5 Tablet, inhibits the kidney’s SGLT-2 enzymes. As a result, when you urinate, your body excretes more glucose because it stops the reabsorption of glucose from the blood that has been filtered by your kidney.
Directions for Use
As directed by a physician, take Dapmed-5 Tablets with or without meals. Drink a glass of water and swallow it whole. Avoid breaking, chewing, or crushing it.

Drug Warnings
If you have severe kidney disease, high blood or urine ketone levels, heart disease, congestive heart failure, liver disease, or are taking insulin or other oral diabetes drugs, let your doctor know. You should also let them know if you are allergic to Dapmed-5 Tablet and other medications. When combined with other diabetes drugs, Dapmed-5 Tablets have the potential to drastically drop blood sugar levels, resulting in hypoglycemia, a potentially dangerous condition. In this situation, your doctor could lower the dosage of Dapmed-5 Tablet or another diabetes medication. Even if a person feels that their blood sugar levels are under control, they should continue taking Dapmed-5 Tablets because they have the potential to raise them again.
When taking Dapmed-5 Tablets, you should consume small, frequent meals and avoid fasting. Look for signs of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), such as sweating, lightheadedness, dry mouth, dry skin, palpitations, chills, extreme thirst, and frequent urine. Take honey or sugar candies right away and see a doctor if you experience any of the symptoms listed.
Drug Interactions
The following medications interact with Dapmed-5 Tablet: diuretics (furosemide, amiloride, hydrochlorothiazide), muscle relaxants (baclofen), anti-prostate medications (tamsulosin), anti-parkinson medications (levodopa), antibiotics (gatifloxacin), heart-related medications (amlodipine, bisoprolol), and other antidiabetic medications (glipizide, glimepiride).
Drug-Food Interaction: Dapmed-5 Tablet may cause upset stomach and discomfort in the abdomen when combined with home sugar. Therefore, eating foods high in sugar should be avoided. Additionally, refrain from drinking alcohol while using Dapmed-5 Tablets as this could raise blood sugar levels or lower them.
Drug-Disease Interaction: People who have heart conditions (such as myocardial infarction and congestive heart failure), have glucose and ketones (a type of chemical) in their urine, have severe kidney or liver disease, frequently get urinary tract infections, or are alcoholics should not take Dapmed-5 Tablets.
Advice on Diet and Lifestyle
•Put half of your plate full of starchy vegetables, a quarter full of proteins, and a quarter full of complete grains.
•Eat at regular intervals. Avoid going too long between meals or snacks.
•Regularly check your blood sugar level, particularly if there are many swings.
•Every week, dedicate at least 150 minutes to moderate-intensity exercise or an hour and fifteen minutes to high-intensity exercise.
•To reach a healthy body mass index (18.5 to 24.9), progressively reduce your weight.
•Consume more fruits, vegetables, and other foods high in fibre in favour of refined carbs and whole-grain foods.
•Limit your consumption of foods high in saturated fat, often known as hidden fats, such as chips, crisps, pastries, biscuits, and samosas. For everyday cooking, use oils that contain omega-3 fatty acids. For frying, you can use safflower oil, groundnut oil, mustard oil, rice bran oil, and palm oil.
•Avoid stress since it can cause your blood sugar to rise. To regulate blood sugar fluctuations brought on by stress, you can use stress-reduction strategies like mindfulness.
•Choose dairy items that are low in fat, such as cheese, fat-free milk, and low-fat yoghurt.
•Maintaining normal blood pressure (120/80) lowers the risk of cardiovascular illnesses in people with diabetes.
Special Advise
•Every three months, you should get a glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) test to see how well your blood glucose is controlled.
•Consume a lot of water because taking Dapmed-5 Tablets can make you dehydrated.
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic or lifelong illness in which the body’s cells do not react to insulin, and in more advanced stages, the body does not even create enough insulin. It accounts for about 90% of all instances of diabetes. Because of this illness, the body must rely on various energy sources for its muscles, tissues, and organs. Constant hunger, low energy, exhaustion, weight loss, extreme thirst, frequent urination, dry mouth, itchy skin, and blurred eyesight are some of the early signs of this disease, which develops gradually. Type 2 diabetes, often known as adult-onset diabetes, is most likely to affect people who are middle-aged or older. Uncontrolled type 2 diabetes can cause blindness or damage to the retina of the eyes, limb loss, nerve and kidney issues, sexual dysfunction, and an increased risk of heart attack or stroke.
